Capturing the Beauty of Colour, Light and Shadow

Frisson

When creating a painting I generally have a working title, which will likely change as the painting forms. And for this one had a working title of 'Frisson', meaning a 'thrill', used as a "frisson of excitement looking at a painting" or a "frisson of joy listening to an orchestra" then I hard the Nina Simone song, 'I Put a Spell on You'. The painting is somewhat mysterious, elusive with its veils of muted colour. How to decide? Finally, I have settled upon 'Frisson' as it gives me that thrill, from the delicacy and muted colour of the outer petals to the impact of the corals, pinks and purples of the inner petals. 'Frisson' it is. Currently showing at The Nest in Penticton.
